Never Let the Sun Set On Tomorrow
Posted on March 19th, 2009

…before the sun rises today.

That’s totally irrelevant, but I absolutely love that quote. It’s from the song “If I Am” by Nine Days. Listen to it, because it’s absolutely amazing.
Anywho, the reason for posting. I’m so very excited! Next week is my spring break, and although I’m not doing anything, I’m really pumped to chill out for a while. I’m going to have to do a lot of homework during it, though, because you know why?! I’m going to Washington D.C. the week after. So that means I technically get a two week spring break… but really I’m just skipping a whole week. Here’s how it all works out:

The American Civics Center is an organization that arranges for students from various states to experience Washington D.C. for one week. There are a lot of planned activities, and they’re pretty much all educational. It helps to learn more about the government and whatnot. It’s intended for seniors taking a government class, but I guess they couldn’t get enough people to go, so Mrs. McCoy, the teacher who is organizing most of it, extended it to juniors. The best part of it is that it’s free! Normally it would cost somewhere around $1200 to go, but due to some special circumstances that I won’t get into, the 9 of us get to go for free, most expenses paid.

I had never even heard of Mrs. McCoy until all of this got started. My friend Lula is in her psychology class and she got to go. When a few of the people’s applications or whatever you want to call them fell though, Lula told her that I might be eligible for the trip. So she pulled me out of Spanish class and talked to me about it, and I had to rush and get information made available the next day, but everything worked out. I leave on March 28th. I’m so very excited, you guys… you don’t even get it. Haha. We’re flying there… in an actual plane. That is EPIC for me. I’ve never flown before, never ridden in a subway (which I will also be doing), and I’ve never even been out of Ohio besides going to Myrtle Beach twice when I was wayyy younger.

To top that off, I’m going to Wisconsin and Chicago for on Memorial Day weekend with my church’s youth choir. We’re performing for a sister church in Wisconsin and then just exploring Chicago for a day because we can. Woo! This year is sooo the best. I mean, high school has been a total joke up until this year. By far, this is my favorite. I have the best friends, the most fun, the most stuff to do, the most opportunities. Ugh, I’m just so bubbly and happy!

I should probably stop before I make you guys throw up from all the happy bubbly reading. (; Laterrr!
